Origin Heros notatus originate from South America. They are mostly found in the Amazon River basins. Sexing Banded cichlids are difficult to sex but the male usually has a slightly higher coloration. Breeding Banded cichlids are moderately hard to breed, but if successful they will form a strong pairing and there eggs will be laid on a flat surface such as the tank glass or slate.
