Padauk Hardwood

The scientific name is Pterocarpus soyauxi. Padauk Hardwood are of African or Asian origin. Padauks are valued for their toughness, stability in use, and decorativeness, most having a reddish wood. Heartwood color can vary, ranging from a pale pinkish orange to a deep brownish red. Most pieces tend to start reddish orange when freshly cut, darkening substantially over time to a reddish/purplish brown. Padauks initial orange coloration can be preserved through various finishing procedures. Has a coarse texture and fairly large and open pores. Grain is usually straight, but can sometimes be interlocked. Veneer, flooring, turned objects, musical instruments, furniture, tool handles, and other small specialty wood objects.

Tali Hardwood

Scientific Name Erythrophleum Ivorense. The Tali Hardwood is orange, yellow and brown to reddish brown. Tali is of African origin. The sapwood is striped and clearly demarcated. The grain is interlocked and the texture is coarse. The species is considerably stronger than White oak or Teak. It has exceptionally high bending strength qualities when air-dried. Purple Heart Hardwood

Kapur Hardwood

The Kapur Hardwood is reddish brown and clearly demarcated from the pale sapwood. The wood is fairly coarse textured but uniform. Kapur Hardwood is straighter grained and not quite as coarse in texture. The Kapur Hardwood is rated resistant to attack by decay fungi; it is reported to be vulnerable to termites. Kapur Hardwood is extremely resistant to preservative treatment. The wood works with moderate ease in most hand and machine operations, but blunting of cutters may be severe because of silica content particularly when the dry wood is machined. It takes nails and screws satisfactorily.
