Three phase DC Brake motors offered by Amber consist of DC Electromagnetic Fail Safe OR Normally off Brake Unit mounted on the non-drive end of the motor and coupled directly to the shaft of the motor. The brake unit being DC wound is powered through a rectifier or bridge. The brake in DC Fail Safe brake motors will apply whenever the power to the brake via rectifier or bridge is cut off and vice versa in the Normally off brake units. These motors are availed with or without cooling fan based on the application and requirement. Application of DC Three phase brake motors are in machine tools and other applications where the frequency of switching the brake On-Off is very high. The major care to take while operating DC Fail Safe Brake motors is to check that power to motor and brake are cut off simultaneously otherwise the motor or brake may get damaged.
