Flocculation tanks are used to mix polymer and sludge prior to sludge thickening or dewatering. Flocculation tanks are supplied with variable speed agitators, but the speed is very rarely changed during normal operation. Floc tanks generally have an open top, which allows operators to easily visually observe floc conditions. A re-boiler is a heat exchanger that is used to generate the vapour supplied to the bottom tray of a distillation column.
The liquid from the bottom of the column is partially vaporized in the exchanger, which is usually of the shell and tube type. The heating medium is most often condensing steam, but commercial heat transfer fluids and other process streams are also used.

A knockout drum with a mist eliminator is common whenever a process requires entrained droplets to be separated from vapour stream.
A simple knockout drum (without a mist eliminator) will remove droplets larger than about 380 microns by gravity settling. Generally, gravity settling removes 90% of the liquid entering the vessel. However, the remaining droplets smaller than 380 microns can be significant problem for a downstream unit. A mist eliminator at the top of the knockout drum will remove the remaining droplets down to a diameter of 6 microns or less, depending on the type of mist eliminator.
A knockout drum with mist eliminator can achieve an overall efficiency of 99% liquid remova.
Blowdown tanks are designed to reduce temperature and pressure of the blowdown discharge from the boiler. This equipment is essential as it is undesirable to discharge the boiler blowdown directly to a sanitary sewer.
These large tanks retain the blowdown water volume from one blow after the flash steam has been vented to the atmosphere and allow the water to cool down by natural convection over 6-12 hour period. The cooled water will be below 140 Fahrenheit when it is displaced by the next blowdown and forced out of the overflow drainpipe. .

Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger is the most common type of heat exchanger in oil refineries and other large chemical processes, and is suited for higher-pressure applications. Shell Tubes Heat Exchanger are classified into fixed and Floating type Heat Exchangers . Fixed type Heat Exchangers are used where there are absolutely no chances for inter mixing of two fluids.
Shell and tube heat exchangers consist of a series of tubes. One set of these tubes contains the fluid that must be either heated or cooled. The second fluid runs over the tubes that are being heated or cooled so that it can either provide the heat or absorb the heat required. In this type, the tube sheets are completely welded to the shell and acted as shell flanges. The Floating type Heat Exchangers has the advantages of removability of tube bundle and access for cleaning both inner and outer side of tubes and shell.
Applications:
Shell Tube Heat Exchanger is widely used in variety of application as a cooling solution. The most common amoungthem is for cooling of Hydraulic Fluid and oil in engines, transmissions and hydraulic power packs. With the right coimbination of materials they can also be used to cool or heat other mediums, such as swimming pool water or charge air. One of the big advantages of using a shell and tube heat exchanger is that they are often easy to service, particularly with models where a floating tube bundle (where the tube plates are not welded to the outer shell) is available. Can also be used on fixed tube sheet heat exchangers.

A set of tubes is called the tube bundle and can be made up of several types of tubes: plain, longitudinally finned, etc. Shell and tube heat exchangers are typically used for high-pressure applications (with pressures greater than 30 bar and temperatures greater than 260 C).[3]This is because the shell and tube heat exchangers are robust due to their shape.

Industrial Silencers are used to reduce the noise generated when planned or unexpected steam, air, natural gas, nitrogen, oxygen or other process gases are vented (blown off) from high pressure to atmosphere. At such times, high noise levels, which are dangerous to plant personnel and likely to be environmentally unacceptable, are generated.
A silencer works by expanding the incoming flow through many small nozzles. This expansion creates a reduction and frequency shift in the vent noise. By correct selection of nozzle size, spacing and pattern, this reduction can be optimized to produce overall quieting. The pressure drop across the inlet diffuser is selected according to the duty of the silencer. We can examine the pressure losses through the pipe work and recommend the most suitable silencer pressure drop for the vent duty.
