Liquid Refrigerant Receiver

The function of a Liquid Refrigerant Receiver is to store liquid refrigerant to provide continuous flow of liquid refrigerant to the expansion device and to provide storage for the refrigerant charge during system service or maintenance.

Applications

Liquid Refrigerant Receivers are installed in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The Receiver is installed after the Condenser in order to collect the condensed refrigerant to allow a continuous liquid supply to the expansion device. Liquid Receivers are also used to store the refrigerant charge while the system is pumped down for service or maintenance.

Sight Glasses

Sight glasses are related to filter driers in a certain way. In a system with an expansion valve, a sight glass is usually fitted in the liquid line immediately after the filter drier. In theory, the sight glass can be fitted at any desired location on the liquid line. However, placing it close to the expansion valve is especially advisable. Generally speaking, a standard sight glass with an indicator also has a dual function. It monitors whether the moisture content of the refrigerant is within an acceptable range, and it indicates whether liquid refrigerant is always present at the expansion component. If the moisture content is OK, the indicator colour is green and no further action is necessary. If the indicator is yellow, there is a problem with the moisture content of the refrigerant. Excessive moisture content can cause icing of the expansion valve if the evaporating temperature is 0 C or lower. In addition, excessive moisture in the system can react with the oil normally used in modern refrigeration systems (polyester oil) to form acids. Frothing in the sight glass indicates either a shortage of refrigerant or that the refrigerant in the liquid line is not entirely in the liquid state. Neither of these situations is good for the system, so they should at least be recognized. Variants Standard sight glasses are available with solder fittings and flare fittings with male threads, as well as with male and female threaded fittings for direct connection to a filter drier. Sight glasses are also available without housings for screw-in installation, and as saddle-mount versions. Saddle-mount sight glasses are fitted to the sides of especially large-diameter pipes using suitable adapters.

LPS AND HPS Pressure Switch

A pressure switch is a form of switch that closes an electrical contact when a certain set pressure has been reached on its input. The switch may be designed to make contact either on pressure rise or on pressure fall.

The pressure switch may be fixed or adjustable, by moving the contacts or adjusting tension in a counterbalance spring. Industrial pressure switches may have a calibrated scale and pointer to show the set point of the switch. A pressure switch will have a differential range around its setpoint in which small changes of pressure do not change the state of the contacts. Some types allow adjustment of the differential.

Switches designed for use in hazardous areas with flammable gas have enclosure to prevent an arc at the contacts from igniting the surrounding gas. Switch enclosures may also be required to be weatherproof, corrosion resistant, or submersible.

RAW WATER IS PASSED VIA TWO SMALL POLYSTYRENE BEAD FILLED (ION EXCHANGE RESINS) BEDS. WHILE THE CATIONS GET EXCHANGED WITH HYDROGEN IONS IN FIRST BED, THE ANIONS ARE EXCHANGED WITH HYDROXYL IONS, IN THE SECOND ONE.
Process :

IN THE CONTEXT OF WATER PURIFICATION, ION-EXCHANGE IS A RAPID AND REVERSIBLE PROCESS IN WHICH IMPURITY IONS PRESENT IN THE WATER ARE REPLACED BY IONS RELEASED BY AN ION-EXCHANGE RESIN. THE IMPURITY IONS ARE TAKEN UP BY THE RESIN, WHICH MUST BE PERIODICALLY REGENERATED TO RESTORE IT TO THE ORIGINAL IONIC FORM. (AN ION IS AN ATOM OR GROUP OF ATOMS WITH AN ELECTRIC CHARGE. Wooden Cooling Tower

WOODEN COOLING TOWERS

This cooling tower is made with wooden structure, fill andlouvers.This mechanism is called as induced draft cross flow cooling.The tower structural and supporting sections are Epoxy Coated/ HDG Steel, fastened with zinc plated/ SS fasteners, and suited for hot, harsh and humid atmospheric industrial conditions.

This rugged war horse in our stables, incorporate multi blade, cast aluminum, adjustable pitch fan assembly driven by special T.E, IP-55 protected direct drive/ Geared Motor with low R.P.M and higher air discharge capacities.

The standard cladding profile of corrugated asbestos cement sheet or FRP sheet, the joints of which are lapped to minimize water spillage. The Treated Wooden Splash bars, the fill media, are supported on FRP / SS Grids to ensure positive and permanent positioning. The wooden splash bars are of imported pine woods, chemically treated to arrest fungal or algae formations. The design incorporates accommodation of waters with very high TDS factors The hot water from the source when circulated to the collection basin with flower pot nozzles, are sprayed over the fill area. Simultaneously, air is induced through the fill media thus taking away the latent heat from the water passing through the fill media.

These towers are generally constructed over RCC sumps designed to accomadate the towers and ensuring adequate air are drawn in to the tower and without escaping else where.

Portions of water evaporated, removes the heat from the remaining water. The warm moist air is drawn through the fan deck is discharged to the atmosphere. Cold water, collected at the collection sump, is re-circulated to the heat source.

DEALKANIZER PLANT

The dealkalization of water refers to the removal of alkalinity ions from water. Chloride cycle anion ion exchange dealkalizers remove alkalinity from water.

Chloride cycle dealkalizers operate similar to sodium cycle cation water softeners. Like water softeners, dealkalizers contain ion exchange resins that are regenerated with a concentrated salt (brine) solution NaCl. In the case of a water softener, the cation exchange resin is exchanging sodium (the Na ion of NaCl) for hardness minerals such ascalcium and magnesium.

A dealkalizer contains strong base anion exchange resin that exchanges chloride (the Cl ion of the NaCl) for carbonate, bicarbonate and sulfate. As water passes through the anion resin the carbonate, bicarbonate and sulfate ions are exchanged for chloride ions.

Higher capacities can be realized by use of type II rather than type I strong base anion resins. Although bicarbonates are not held as tightly as chlorides on the SBA (strong base anion) resins in the hydroxide form, when the resin is predominantly in the chloride form the pH has been raised by a small addition of caustic to the brine regenerant, there will be a favorable exchange of bicarbonate for the chloride. This exchange works well only with high alkalinity waters (40cd350e8ed0b020edb6c94af9e0746c2c12789e9791b1a8267ad6a864f7f1623c to 80cd350e8ed0b020edb6c94af9e0746c2c12789e9791b1a8267ad6a864f7f1623c), with capacities of 4 to 10 Kg/CF being obtained. Purpose

Dealkalizers are most often used as pre-treatment to a boiler and are usually preceded by a water softener. Alkalinity is a factor that most often dictates the amount of boiler blowdown. High alkalinity promotes boiler foaming and carryover and causes high amounts of boiler blowoff. When alkalinity is the limiting factor affecting the amount of blowdown, a dealkalizer will increase the cycles of concentrations and reduce blowdown and operating costs.

The reduction of blowdown by dealkalization keeps the water treatment chemicals in the boiler longer, thus minimizing the amount of chemicals required for efficient, noncorrosive operation.

Carbonate and bicarbonate alkalinities are decomposed by heat in boiler water releasing carbon dioxide into the steam. This gas combines with the condensed steam in process equipment and return lines to form carbonic acid. This depresses the pH value of the condensate returns and results in corrosive attack on the equipment and piping.

In general, a dealkalizer is best applied to boilers operating below 700 psi (48 bar). In order to justify installation of a dealkalizer on low-pressure boilers, the alkalinity content should be above 50 ppm with the amount of make-up water exceeding 1, 000 gallons (approx. 4, 000 litres) per day.

Cooling system make-up will also benefit from reduced alkalinity. The addition of a dealkalizer to a cooling water system will substantially reduce the amount of acid required to treat the same amount of water.

Thermostatic Thermal Expansion Valve

Athermal expansion valve(often abbreviated asTEV, TXV, orTX valve) is a component inrefrigerationandair conditioningsystems that controls the amount of refrigerant flow into the condenser thereby controlling thesuperheatingat the outlet of theevaporator. Thermal expansion valves are often referred to generically as "metering devices".

Function

Expansion valves are flow-restricting devices that cause a pressure drop of the working fluid. The valve needle remains open during steady state operation. The size of the opening or the position of the needle is related to the pressure and temperature of the evaporator. There are three main parts of the expansion valve that regulate the position of the needle. A sensor bulb, at the end of the evaporator, monitors the temperature change of the evaporator. This change in temperature creates a change in pressure on the diaphragm.

For example, if the temperature in the evaporator increases, the pressure in the diaphragm increases causing the needle to lower. Lowering the needle allows more of the working fluid into the evaporator to absorb heat. The pressure at the inlet of the evaporator affects the position of the needle and prevents the working fluid from flowing back into the compressor. Since the pressure before the valve is higher than the pressure after the valve, the working fluid naturally flows into the evaporator. The pressure at the inlet of the evaporator acts on the diaphragm. There is also a spring providing a constant pressure closing the valve needle. The spring constantly restricts the amount of working fluid entering the evaporator.

The pressure spring can be adjusted to increase or decrease pressure based on temperature needs. The pressure created by the spring acts on the opening of the valve. When the pressure of the sensor bulb acting on the diaphragm is greater than the combined pressure of the evaporator and spring, the valve opens to increase the flow rate of the working fluid. An increase of flow rate lowers the temperature of the evaporator and allows for more heat absorption.

Activated Carbon Filter

Carbon filtering is a method of filtering that uses a bed of activated carbon to remove contaminants and impurities, using chemical adsorption.

Each particle/granule of carbon provides a large surface area/pore structure, allowing contaminants the maximum possible exposure to the active sites within the filter media. One pound (450 g) of activated carbon contains a surface area of approximately 100 acres (40 Hectares).

Activated carbon works via a process called adsorption, whereby pollutant molecules in the fluid to be treated are trapped inside the pore structure of the carbon substrate. Carbon filtering is commonly used for water purification, in air purifiers and industrial gas processing, for example the removal of siloxanes and hydrogen sulfide from biogas.

Active charcoal carbon filters are most effective at removing chlorine, sediment, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), taste and odor from water. They are not effective at removing minerals, salts, and dissolved inorganic compounds.

Typical particle sizes that can be removed by carbon filters range from 0.5 to 50 micrometres. The particle size will be used as part of the filter description. The efficacy of a carbon filter is also based upon the flow rate regulation. When the water is allowed to flow through the filter at a slower rate, the contaminants are exposed to the filter media for a longer amount of time.

Accumulator

The refrigeration compressor is designed to compress vapor only. A suction line accumulator prevents compressor damage from a sudden surge of liquid refrigerant and oil that could enter the compressor from the suction line.

The suction line accumulator is a temporary reservoir for this mixture, designed to meter both the liquid refrigerant and oil back to the compressor at an acceptable rate. This prevents damage to the reed valves, pistons, rods, and crankshafts.

Accumulators have a metering ejector device that picks up liquid, vaporizes it, and returns it to the compressor. This prevents liquid slugging and controls oil return. It is particularly important on hot gas defrost systems, heat pumps, etc., where surges of liquid refrigerant frequently go back down the suction line.

Pressure Sand Filter

AlfacoolTMmanufacture a wide range of industrial/commercial sand filters, which are used for removing suspended solids and turbidity. These filters have multiple layer of sand having different sizes and specific gravity, which makes them highly effective in removing suspended solids from water. Water Cooled Condenser

In systems involving heat transfer, acondenseris a device or unit used to condense a substance from its gaseous to its liquid state, by cooling it. In so doing, the latent heat is given up by the substance, and will transfer to the condenser coolant. Condensers are typicallyheat exchangers which have various designs and come in many sizes ranging from rather small (hand-held) to very large industrial-scale units used in plant processes. For example, a refrigerator uses a condenser to get rid of heat extracted from the interior of the unit to the outside air. Condensers are used in chilling plants, air dryer, air conditioning, industrial chemical processes such as distillation, steam power plants and other heat-exchange systems. Use of cooling water or surrounding air as the coolant is common in many condensers.

Water cooled Although a little more pricey to install, these condensers are the more efficient type. Commonly used for swimming pools and condensers piped for city water flow, these condensers require regular service and maintenance.

They also require a cooling tower to conserve water. To prevent corrosion and the forming of algae, water cooled condensers require a constant supply of makeup water along with water treatment.

Depending on the application you can choose from tube in tube, shell and coil or shell and tube condensers. All are essentially made to produce the same outcome, but each in a different way.
