During design stage of outdoor gantry cranes stability especially under storm conditions are the major parameters to be checked. The cross travel and long travel motor gearbox unit is designed to overcome wind resistance opposing the crane movement in addition to the power required to accelerate and move the safe working load at full speed. Other points to take care for outdoor gantries are: corrosion allowance in design of structural members, drilled holes on walkway to avoid accumulation of rain water, covers for trolley, Long travel motor/ brake. Semi Goliath Cranes: In Semi Goliath cranes one end of crane on move on rails supported on floor level and other end of crane moves on rails placed on elevated level placed on gantry girder. These cranes find applications in areas where material lifting is required in uncovered area of manufacturing plant. These cranes also find usage in plants where lifting arrangement in a specific section of plant. These cranes are classified into single girder and double girder depending on customer requirements.

EOT Cranes: As the name suggests Electric Overhead Travelling Cranes travel on rails placed on gantry at an elevated level. Depending on usage , space and cost constraints EOT cranes can be classified into three broad categories which are listed below.

Jib cranes is an cost effective and efficient material handling equipment for these applications because it reduces power consumption and wait time required for EOT Crane. Jib cranes can be broadly classified into two categories: Pillar Mounted Jib Cranes and Wall Mounted Jib Cranes. Column mounted Jib Cranes are necessary when no other appropriate support near a workstation is available. The Jib arm of this type is attached to steel pipe swivelling on antifriction bearings. Wall mounted Jib Cranes are ideal solutions for workstations located near walls or vertical structures. The Jib arm of these type are mounted on building column made from steel. Special design is also available for mounting of Jib arm on RCC columns.

Hoisting unit is available in three varieties manual chain hoist with push pulled or geared trolley, electrical chain hoist with push pull / geared or motorised trolley movement and electric wire rope hoist with motorised CT movement. VVVF drive is available for hoisting, CT and Slewing motion for smooth start and stop and Radio remote control are available for remote operation of the crane.
