ARIMIDEX 1 MG aromatase-inhibiting drug
Arimidex by AstraZeneca (generic name Anastrozole) is an aromatase-inhibiting drug approved for treatment of breast cancer after surgery as well as for metastasis in both pre & post-menopausal women.
Arimidex (anastrozole) lowers estrogen levels in postmenopausal women, which may slow the growth of certain types of breast tumors that need estrogen to grow in the body. It is often given to women whose cancer has progressed even after taking tamoxifen (Nolvadex, Soltamox).

Vesanoid is an anti-cancer chemotherapy drug classified under”retinoid. Its generic name is tretinoin Its used to treat acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL, APML) in people who have not responded to other treatments. It is manufactured by Roche & available in India in tablet form of 10 mg dosage. Pack size is of 100 tablets.

How this drug is given:
Tretinoin is given by mouth (in capsule form).One size capsule – 10mg, do not crush chew or dissolve capsules. Protect from light.Take this medication with food.It also is used as a lotion (topical) for patients with acne and certain rashes.The amount of tretinoin you will receive depends on many factors, including your height and weight, your general health or other health problems, and the type of cancer you have. Your doctor will determine your dosage and schedule.

Side effects:Important things to remember about the side effects of tretinoin:
Most people do not experience all of the side effects listed.Side effects are often predictable in terms of their onset and duration.Side effects are almost always reversible and will go away after treatment is complete.There are many options to help minimize or prevent side effects.There is no relationship between the presence or severity of side effects and the effectiveness of the medication.The following side effects are common (occurring in greater than 30%) for patients taking tretinoin:
Typical retinoid toxicity: (symptoms that are similar to those found in patients taking high doses of vitamin A) Headache, fever, dry skin, dry mucous membranes (mouth, nose), bone pain, nausea and vomiting, rash, mouth sores, itching, sweating, eyesight changes.Flu-like symptoms: malaise, chillsBleeding problemsInfectionsSwelling of feet or anklesPain (bone and joint pain, chest discomfort)Abdominal painThe following are less common side effects (occurring in 10-29%) for patients receiving tretinoin:

This syndrome is a reaction between the drug and the leukemia. This syndrome produces fever, difficulty breathing, weight gain, lung and heart problems. It is generally treated with high-dose steroids. In most cases, treatment with tretinoin will continue. Be sure to let your health care professional know if you experience fever of 100.5F or 38C, difficulty breathing, or sudden weight gain. The syndrome usually occurs during the first month of treatment, with some cases reported following the first dose.

How is Cancidas given?Cancidas (Caspofungin) is injected into a vein through an IV. Caspofungin must be given slowly, and the IV infusion can take at least 1 hour to complete.
You may be shown how to use an IV at home. Do not self-inject this medicine if you do not fully understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of used needles, IV tubing, and other items used to inject the medicine.
Caspofungin is usually given for at least 14 days. You may need to receive this medication until it has been at least 7 days after your symptoms disappear, or 14 days after lab tests show that the infection has cleared.
Before receiving caspofungin, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, or if you have recently had a kidney, heart, or liver transplant.
You may be given other medications to treat your infection. Use all medications as directed by your doctor. Read the medication guide or patient instructions provided with each medication. Do not change your doses or medication schedule without your doctor’s advice.
SIDE EFFECTS
Noxafil ( generic name posaconazole) is an antifungal medicine manufactured by Merck which fights certain infections caused by fungus. It is used to prevent fungal infections in people with weak immune systems resulting from certain treatments or conditions including chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation, HIV infection and others. Noxafil is also used to treat oral thrush (yeast infection of the mouth). It comes in 200 mg/ 5ml (40 mg per ml) in 105 ml.
Noxafil injection must be administered through an in-line filter. Administer by intravenous infusion over approximately 90 minutes via a central venous line. Never give Noxafil injection as an intravenous bolus injection.
Common treatment-emergent adverse reactions in studies with posaconazole are diarrhea, nausea, fever, vomiting, headache,
coughing, and hypokalemia.
Mibosit (Miglitol) manufactured by Lupin is an oral anti-diabetic drug that acts by inhibiting the ability of the patient to break down complex carbohydrates into glucose.
