A solenoid valve is an electromechanically operated valve.The valve is controlled by an electric current through a solenoid: in the case of a two-port valve the flow is switched on or off;in the case of a three-port valve, the outflow is switched between the two outlet ports.
Caster Wheel is an omni-directional wheel. This wheel can be used as neutral wheel for the robot.
A caster wheel (or castor) is an undriven, single, double, or compound wheel that is designed to be mounted to the bottom of a larger object (the "vehicle") so as to enable that object to be easily moved. They are available in various sizes, and are commonly made of rubber, plastic, nylon, aluminum, or stainless steel. The outer diameter of a caster wheel affects how easy it is for the caster to be able to move across rough or irregular surfaces. Large diameter caster wheels are able to bridge wide gaps where a small caster would fall inside and get stuck, such as the gap in the floor between an elevator door and the elevator car. However, the larger diameter a caster wheel, the higher or wider the caster support arm must be. Either the base of a low-hanging object must be lifted higher above the wheels, or the casters must hang out to the sides straddling the low-hanging supported object. Large diameter swivel casters also typically need much more room to rotate the vertical shaft than a small caster.
Ball transfers can be used for conveyor or caster applications. In the traditional "Ball Up" configuration, ball transfers make an excellent conveying surface. Ball transfers allow for omnidirectional movement across the conveying surface. They are perfect for applications where manual lateral and rotation movement are required. In the "Ball Down" position, ball transfers are a unique caster: a swivel caster without the swivel section. Swivel casters have to orient themselves into position, so off the line you have to put energy into getting the casters in alignment. With a ball transfer caster, the caster is always aligned, as it has omnidirectional rolling. Metal ball transfers are acceptable for use on hard floor surfaces and short pile carpet. Note that metal ball transfers should not be used on hardwood floors.

Worm gears are an old style of gear, and a version of one of the six simple machines. Basically, a worm gear is a screw butted up against what looks like a standard spur gear with slightly angled and curved teeth. It changes the rotational movement by 90 degrees, and the plane of movement also changes due to the position of the worm on the worm wheel (or simply "the wheel"). They are typically comprised of a steel worm and a brass wheel.

Measuring muscle activity by detecting its electric potential, referred to as electromyography (EMG), has traditionally been used for medical research. However, with the advent of ever shrinking yet more powerful microcontrollers and integrated circuits, EMG circuits and sensors have found their way into all kinds of control systems.
This sensor will measure the filtered and rectified electrical activity of a muscle; outputting 0-Vs Volts depending the amount of activity in the selected muscle, where Vs signifies the voltage of the power source. The Grove - Flame Sensor can be used to detect fire source or other light sources of the wavelength in the range of 760nm - 1100 nm. It is based on the YG1006 sensor which is a high speed and high sensitive NPN silicon phototransistor. Due to its black epoxy, the sensor is sensitive to infrared radiation. In fire fighting robot game, the sensor plays a very important role, it can be used as a robot eyes to find the fire source.

The ever increasing numbers of traffic accidents all over the world are due to diminished drivers vigilance level. Drivers with a diminished vigilance level suffer from a marked decline in their perception; recognition and vehicle control abilities & therefore pose a serious danger to their own lives and the lives of the other people. For this reason, developing systems that actively monitors the drivers level of vigilance and alerting the driver of any insecure driving condition is essential for accident prevention. Many efforts have been reported in the literature for developing an active safety system for reducing the number of automobiles accidents due to reduced vigilance.
Heat shrinkable end caps are typically used to seal cable ends and provide mechanical and environmental protection. When heated in excess of 121C (250F), SKE Heat Shrink Heavy Duty End Caps rapidly shrinks, forcing the melted adhesive lining to flow and cover the substrate. The adhesive forms a flexible bond with a wide variety of rubbers, plastics and metals. Upon cooling, the adhesive solidifies, forming a permanent, non-drying, flexible and water resistant barrier. Adhesive reflow will occur at temperatures above 80C (176F).

Aboost converter(step-up converter) is aDC-to-DC power converterwith an output voltage greater than its input voltage. It is a class ofswitched-mode power supply(SMPS) containing at least two semiconductors (adiodeand atransistor) and at least one energy storage element, acapacitor, inductor, or the two in combination. Filters made of capacitors (sometimes in combination with inductors) are normally added to the output of the converter to reduce output voltage ripple.
The key principle that drives the boost converter is the tendency of aninductorto resist changes in current by creating and destroying a magnetic field. In a boost converter, the output voltage is always higher than the input voltage. A schematic of a boost power stage is shown in Figure 1.
(a) When the switch is closed, electrons flow through the inductor in clockwise direction and the inductor stores some energy by generating a magnetic field. Polarity of the left side of the inductor is positive.
(b) When the switch is opened, current will be reduced as the impedance is higher. The magnetic field previously created will be destroyed to maintain the current towards the load. Thus the polarity will be reversed (means left side of inductor will be negative now). As a result two sources will be in series causing a higher voltage to charge the capacitor through the diode D.
The MT3608 is a constant frequency, 6-pin SOT23 current mode step-up converter intended for small, low power applications. The MT3608 switches at 1.2MHz and allows the use of tiny, low cost capacitors and inductors 2mm or less in height. Internal soft-start results in small inrush current and extends battery life. The MT3608 features automatic shifting to pulse frequency modulation mode at light loads. The MT3608 includes under-voltage lockout, current limiting, and thermal overload protection to prevent damage in the event of an output overload. The MT3608 is available in a small 6-pin SOT-23 package.
The Due is Arduinos first ARM-based Arduino development board. This board is based on a powerful 32bit CortexM3 ARM microcontroller made programmable through the familiar Arduino IDE. To compile code for the ARM processor, youll need the latest version of the Arduino IDE: v1.5 (After a period of testing and debugging this will replace the 1.0.1 IDE altogether)
Because of the limitations of system voltage imposed by the Atmel SAM3X8E, Arduino shields that are based on the 5v models wont work properly. All the shields that fully implement the Arduino R3 layout are compatible straight away (like the Arduino WiFi shield and Ethernet Shield) but other shields might not be compatible. Be careful when youre plugging stuff in!

Micro-step operation, the chopping control in the A4988 automatically selects the current decay mode (Slow or Mixed). In the mixed decay mode, the device is initially set to fast decay in the part of the fixed off-time, then a slow decay in the rest of the downtime. Mixed-decay current control scheme results in reduced audible motor noise, increased step accuracy, and reduced power consumption. The Minisense 100 from Measurement Specialties is a low-cost cantilever-type vibration sensor loaded by a mass to offer high sensitivity at low frequencies. Useful for detecting vibration and tap inputs from a user. A small AC and large voltage (up to +/-90V) is created when the film moves back an forth.
