Ocimum Sanctum or ‘Tulsi’ is a common plant in most Indian households. It is a small shrub belonging to Lamiaceae family with simple ovate and aromatic leaves. Ocimum Sanctum is considered a divine plant as per the Hindu rituals and is also attributed with many medicinal properties such as prevention of cough, bronchitis, fever and diabetes. There are many formulations mentioned in the Ayurvedic texts that have Ocimum Sanctum in a combination with other herbs.
